Water found in the basement of the house!
Subsoil drainage refers to pips that are installed underground to intercept and convey groundwater. This subsurface or seepage water is collected by a special kind of pipe called weeping tiles that is installed around the perimeter of a building. Water found in the basement of the house be solved by subsoil or sump pump!
Weeping tiles is a flex type of pipe with prefraded all over it with size of 4’’ pipe size that is being used for subsoil drainage.
Every building that has a section extending below ground level should have weeping tiles installed as part of the drainage systems in order to drain subsurface water which can build up pressure around the foundation wall and find its way into the basement area.
Most of cities in Canada because of the weather that we have, there is a lots of rain, and snow.
The water in the basement can be found in certain months of the year. When the house is built they apply the subsoil. If the house are not new build, it can have installed the subsoil after. Of course doing it after is always more costly.
Weeping tiles can be installed outside or inside perimeter of the building.
The type of drainage water
In the plumbing system, there are three types of drainage water: Black water, the water of the WC. The gray water, the water of the kitchen, and the clear water, the water of the vanity or the water of subsoil drainage. What we are like to discuss at this time, is the clear water or storm drainage water.
At least all the last 10 years building in Canada has two types of drainage, one for black and gray water and one for the clear water or storm drainage.
Sewage treatment facilities are the places in each city that all the black water or sewer line goes to there to be treated. The waste part will be passed to the fertilizer factories and the water part goes back into the environment.
The storm water with an arrangement goes directly to the environment, for that it is important these two water, storm building water and sewer line not to be mixed so that the treatment factory not works extra for storm building water as well.
Another way to take away the water from the basement having installed the sump pump. Sump pump is a pump that is installed inside a basin with a cone shape. This type is about 24’’ in the base and 30” at the top with a 24” of height. The sump pump will be installed inside the basement.
Sump pump is normally installed in the mechanical room where all the water of the basement goes there and through a pump inside the basin will pump the water to outside the house or connect to the storm building drain. This is important the drain part of the sump pump using a union, check valve and a shut off valve (Ball Valve).
The water in the basement could be very dangerous and damage the basement finishing floor or more and create a mold which will be health hazard and damage the house.
