Sump in mechanical shop
One of city challenge is cleaning the sewer line each year. In past all the mechanical shop at the working area had only a floor drain. During washing the floor, all the dirt goes to the city sewer line. For that the sewer line get clogged. The city decides all the mechanical shop and detailed shop have to have sump or grease trap. The grease trap is costly but no chance all the mechanical shops must have it.
There is few ways to do the sump or grease trap in the mechanical shop.
There are few factories that they make premade sumps for the mechanical shop.
The accepted size for the sump: two compartment interception, 24”X24”X24” with a 4” wall of concrete. Also will be acceptable a 4’’ wall in between the two sumps.
The pre-made is available only in 48”X48”X48”. It is good and bad. The good thing is not easy get full. But the bad thing is very expensive to install.
Drain and Vent
All the sumps has to have a drain and a vent. And one drain and connect to the city line. Sometimes a sump need an external vent from outside, depend how it connect to the city sewer line.
Custom made sump
It is a better way to do custom made sumps; however, you should have the good team of concrete cutter and maker, a plumber and a manager.
The two compartments has two led, one has to be solid and one perforated. The led is made of strong iron/cast iron.
