Why Does My Furnace Not Work?
Many people have problems with there furnace, but 90% of them don’t even know how theirs works. To first find out why your furnace doesn’t work, you have to first know the components of it. The first part is a pilot light. The second component is a burner. The third part is the heat exchanger. And the last part of a furnace is a air filter.
The Pilot Light
The pilot light is a small, constantly burning flame at the bottom of your furnace. When you turn on your heat, the pilot light is what lights the burners that keep the furnace running. The most frequent problem with the pilot light is that it is blown out. This happens usually, so it needs to be lit often.
The burner is a part that brings and burns gas under the furnace, in order to warm it, it’s almost like the burners on your stove top. Once the pilot light ignites the burner, it will proceed to warm the air in the heat exchanger until the heating cycle is over. The burner is the place which brings in the gas, so the most frequent problem with this is that it does not receive any natural gas. This problem may some times be complicated, and other times be very simple. But do not risk to find out, because it is very dangerous. One of our technicians would be glad to help you on fixing your furnace.
The heat Exchanger
The heat exchanger serves a very important role, transferring heat from the burners to the air to be circulated. It is often made of a series of metal tubes connecting the burner to the exhaust flue. As air flows into the furnace to be warmed, it passes over the heat exchanger, transferring off it’s heat before being recirculated. Meanwhile, the harmful combustion gases flow through the heat exchanger and out the exhaust flue. This is a very complex system, if you’ve checked all the other parts of the furnace, it is a problem with the heat exchanger. Call one of our technicians, we will be glad to help you fix your furnace.
The Air Filter
The air filter is a fiber stretched over a metal frame installed in front of the return blower of your furnace. It’s there to prevent dust particles and other contaminants from getting into the system and causing damage. The most frequent problem with this is with the fiber, it needs to be cleaned out, this is a very simple proces to do. Don’t worry this happen’s really often same with the pilot light.
