Installing Trane Furnace over 100,000 BTU
Most of the furnace replacement will be done in the same way. The same gas line, same duct system. Possibly some modification to gas line and to the duct system may need it.
If the furnace will be 100,000 btu or over and you are installing a Trane furnace, the installation will be a bit different. This different is in your advantage when compare it to other furnace brand. As a house owner your installer has to do the following steps to have a better air flow:
- The furnace need a base
- Take out the bottom of the furnace
- The filter rack shall change to 25X16X1 (3, or 5) due to a better air flow not keeping the 20X16X1
- The filter rack shall install in half of the base and half of the furnace side. The base is 12” high. The filter rack take that height plus another 12” from furnace side.
- The furnace has a bottom open that sit on the base. The air flow has a chance to flow from the bottom of the furnace and in fact from the base side go to the return air duct.
This procedure make a better air flow to the house and minimize the most noise from the furnace.
The control board of the Trane furnace has an option that no all other furnaces brand have that. That option give the owner to adjust the air flow speed, the how much time delay between the stages for the heat, and Also the adjustment for outside unit and the compressor setting.
